D&D Client |
Dungeons & Dragons Client is an open source program written in Java intended for online role-playing. The purpose of the project is to allow for quicker paced Dungeons & Dragons role-playing by handling most calculations and by providing rules text whenever necessary. The engine is based on the new fourth edition of Dungeons & Dragons.
The program aids in many parts of the game ranging from character creation to the actual role-playing itself. Character creation is simplified by having a nice step by step character creation interface and game play is accelerated through a graphical visualization of the dungeon and the players' surroundings. The dungeon master can design dungeon layouts which the players can view to keep track of things such as enemy creatures or objects in the room. There is also a log of every spell and ability implemented in the game to reduce the amount of time needed to look up rules.
The online component of the program allows for long distance game-play and will allow players to connect to arbitrary IP addresses. There will also be a chatroom together with the rest of the interface to allow for communication between the players.
There is no release of the client yet, but the alpha version should be expected soon.
